Iran is not planning any meetings with IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said yesterday that no meetings are planned, because the IAEA “has no program for inspections of nuclear facilities damaged as a result of US and Israeli aggression.” There is currently no protocol or mechanism for such inspections, he stated, adding that Iran will continue its existing procedures in line with the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), reported Tasnim. Responding to US claims about the start of nuclear talks and the possible deployment of inspectors to Tehran, Baqaei rejected the assertions as unfounded.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio sharply disagreed with such Iranian statements yesterday. “We know what they agreed to,” he told reporters traveling with him in the UAE. “I don’t know why they have to say the things they say. Whatever their internal or domestic politics is, I guess they’ll navigate it. But we know what they agreed to do, and now they’ll either do it or they won’t. And if they do, the process moves forward. And if they don’t, the President will have some decisions to make.”
