Israeli bombardment of southern Lebanon continues unabated despite the alleged June 3 truce. Al Mayadeen reports this morning that three Lebanese Army military personnel, two officers and a soldier, were killed on Saturday after an Israeli strike targeted a military vehicle on the Khardali-Nabatieh road in southern Lebanon, making it one of the deadliest Israeli attacks against the Lebanese Army in recent months. One of the officers was identified as a brigadier general.
The IDF confirmed that it hit the vehicle. The IDF said in a statement that it identified a vehicle “moving suspiciously” toward Israeli forces near the village of Kfar Tebnit, reported The Times of Israel. “Following the identification, and due to the warning information and the danger to the forces, the vehicle was struck,” the IDF said. The Israeli military confirmed that in the vehicle were two officers and a soldier of the LAF, adding that the incident is under further investigation. “The IDF is investigating the incident and will draw lessons accordingly,” it says.
The military added that troops are “operating against the Hezbollah terror organization and not against the Lebanese army.”
