Israeli Government Triples Spending on U.S. Influence Campaigns

“Israel Is Bleeding Support in the U.S.—and Pouring Tens of Millions Into Trying to Change That”, Israel’s Haaretz daily documented in a detailed exposé published June 18. Israeli government spending to win back its once loyal supporters among Christian Republicans, is now “three times the budget originally allocated to it” when this influence campaign was launched late last year. It now totals over $40 million, Haaretz reported.

As part of the campaign, “a network of propaganda sites featuring anti-Palestinian and pro-Israeli content” have been created, purporting to be “neutral and factual.” These sites are designed so as to “influence the answers provided by search engines and AI-based chatbots,” according to Haaretz.

Saturating U.S. social media with narratives driven by AI algorithms is losing its effectiveness in countering the ugly reality of the Israeli government’s war and genocide policy. Haaretz reports that since the influence campaign was launched, support for Israel among the American right “has deteriorated even further.”
