British Secretary of Defense John Healey tendered his resignation to Prime Minister Keir Starmer today. Apparently, Starmer was unable to back up Healey and his history of threats, bluffs, and posturing against Russia with actual funding.
His open letter declared that Starmer has been “unable, and the Treasury has been unwilling to commit the resources” required for his massive military spending projects. He has challenged European countries to keep up with his commitment to push the level of military spending from 2% of GDP to 3.5%. Healey said that the military budget first given on June 8 “falls well short of what is required” to field battle-ready armed forces.
