1300 Frightened Top Employees of Frontier AI firms Call on US Gov to Support an Intern Effort To Regulate AI

Without endorsing China, who called already last year for international cooperation to regulate AI and without mentioning Pope Leo XIV who strongly made the same point in his recent Encyclical Humanitas Magnificat, an impressive list of 1,293 employees of frontier AI companies, signed a “statement” they titled “Pacing the Frontier,” calling the US government to cooperate in international governance of AI development

The signers include Anthropic’s CEO, Dario Amodei; the head of research at OpenAI; the head of research at Meta; and the strategic advisor at Google DeepMind, Google’s AI subsidiary. OpenAI and Anthropic have officially expressed their support for the initiative through posts on X.
