British Air Power ‘Revisionists’ Promote a Strategy for Delusional Ukraine Victory

Two delusional cheerleaders for the “Ukraine Is Winning” narrative held a webcast dialogue on July 2 to promote their view that Ukraine could win, if only the allies provided more air power. The webcast was sponsored by Phillips O’Brien, a British historian teaching Strategic Studies at St. Andrews University in Scotland. Prior to his current position, he was the director of the Scottish Centre for War Studies at the University of Glasgow. He is the author of “How the War Was Won: Air-Sea Power and Allied Victory in World War II,” and his articles are published by the Atlantic Council and the CFR’s Foreign Affairs. He was joined by Edward Stringer, an RAF vet and former Assistant Chief of the UK Defense Staff, who served as the Director General of the (UK) Defense Academy from 2018 to 2021.

The two prattled on for more than an hour on the theme that NATO was unprepared for Russia’s war against Ukraine, as no attempt was made to provide an air defense by NATO. They attributed this to decisions made by Biden and Sullivan, who were “too concerned about Russian escalation” and had “no expectation that Ukraine could win.” NATO was handicapped because of its dependence on the United States.
