Iran has officially suspended its participation in the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This comes after the United States violated its own obligations through acts of aggression, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi said, reported Tasnim. Asked about the future of negotiations with the United States, Gharibabadi said Saturday that Iran had been engaged in talks when Washington breached its commitments under the Islamabad memorandum of understanding by launching acts of aggression.

He said the priority for Iran at present is the country’s resolute defense, adding that the U.S. has already received a response demonstrating that its military actions would not achieve their objectives. “If they are wise, they should choose other solutions,” Gharibabadi said. He stressed that Iran’s current course of action is to defend the country decisively and “teach the aggressors a lesson.”
