Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said he would be pleased if Armenia were expelled from the Collective Security Treaty Organization, adding that he was aware such discussions were under way within the alliance, and that Yerevan will soon begin the process of applying for European Union membership, TASS reported.
The Kremlin responded calmly. If Armenia does not need CSTO membership it can leave, spokesman Dmitry Peskov said; and, having applied to the EU, Armenia will face contradictions with its obligations in the Eurasian Economic Union, since aligning its legislation with European standards across sectors would conflict with the EAEU’s common regime.
