It should be no surprise to those steeped in the living process that is human history that it is the British who are at the center of the dual-trigger nuclear bomb now threatening the existence of human civilization: the looming threat of global nuclear war and the impending blowout of the trans-Atlantic financial system.
“The fact that [British Prime Minister] Burnham is now carrying on with his provocations,” Helga Zepp-LaRouche remarked in her Aug. 26 webcast, “has to do with the fact that the City of London, after all, is one of, if not the headquarters of the trans-Atlantic financial system, together with Wall Street—and they are thoroughly bankrupt.
“So, it seems that these establishments are completely unable to consider that the bankruptcy of the system is the result of their failed policies…. And rather than correcting these policies…they basically go into a flight forward and say, then let’s have the confrontation with Russia, and in the case of the United States, especially with China, which can only be a disaster.”
And flight forward they are going: While British Prime Minister Andy Burnham was in Kiev on Monday handing over blueprints for Ukraine to build its own long-range missile, British media outlets spun the unannounced trip of CIA Director John Ratcliffe to Moscow on Tuesday as an indication of an impending Russian attack: “Ratcliffe could have been responding to reports of a planned Russian escalation against NATO,” the outlets insisted. “We’re running out of time to be ready.” For a nuclear war that no one would survive?
Equally catastrophic is the unpreventable meltdown of the over-leveraged fraud that is the trans-Atlantic financial system, a gargantuan bubble of fictitious “assets,” ripe to blow out at any moment. Take the recent efforts of financial-speculator-turned-Treasury-Secretary Scott Bessent to stave off a collapse of the dollar by announcing a doubling of government buyback operations on Treasury bonds. When pulling that lever that didn’t work, Treasury suggested that it had $1 trillion to throw into the operation. The speculators didn’t flinch, and a blowout of US government debt looms large, with the accompanying chain-reaction collapse that may very well follow.
And yet, given that very real, very dangerous reality, it is quite lawful that at the same time, new arrangements and agreements which represent a post-colonial, post-geopolitics outlook on human governance are taking shape.
“We are in a strategic situation, which is extremely fluid,” Zepp-LaRouche declared. “[T]he whole architecture has completely broken down. The trans-Atlantic relationship of the so-called collective West is not collective anymore… the Middle East architecture is in shambles. The whole world is in an unbelievable turmoil, which is why we put out our appeal that you have to completely change the thinking in terms of geopolitics and move to a New Paradigm on a higher level; because this is an end of an era, and we have to give the new era a shape where the one humanity is united, and you can define your national interest only in accordance with the interest of humanity as a whole—and then you can solve any problem.”
To ensure that humanity makes it to that new era, the Schiller Institute and others are intervening with an appeal to Pope Leo XIV “to call for an emergency international summit to guide the world away from the current path of war and potential nuclear disaster and to peacefully resolve the greatest crises facing humanity today.” Zepp-LaRouche has called on all citizens around the world to mobilize behind this initiative before one or other of the twin triggers unleashes the unthinkable.
