Sept. 25—The 13th Beijing Xiangshan Forum was held Sept. 15-17, 2026, at the Beijing International Convention Center in China’s capital city and marked the forum’s twentieth anniversary. This year’s forum was titled “Build Consensus on Stability, Advance Security Governance Together.” It is China’s most important annual security and defense conference, and is regarded as a counterpart to the Munich Security Conference.

Over 2,000 participants attended, including 60 defense ministers, other government ministers, official representatives, scholars, experts and observers from more than 100 countries, regions and NGOs. Many nations were represented by high-ranking military delegations. The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) were represented by their secretaries-general. There was a large presence from the Global South, as well as speakers and observers from the West.
