On Sep. 14, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun was asked for any comments about the Sep. 12 meeting between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit. The spokesman gave a lengthy reply, indicating the importance China gives to the meeting between the two leaders.
“The meeting in New Delhi marks the two leaders ‘reaffirmation’ of the growth of China-India ties after guiding the bilateral relations from starting afresh in Kazan to making further improvements in Tianjin. The most important consensus reached is that China and India should be partners,” Guo said.
