Ukraine’s acting president Volodymyr Zelensky curtly dismissed the head of the Center for Countering Disinformation (CCD). He posted on the presidential website his Decree No. 971 and it was terse: “To dismiss Andrii Valeriyovych Kovalenko from the position of head of the Center for Countering Disinformation.” No reason for the dismissal was provided, nor was anything else stated, nor was a successor named.
The CCD has been infamous for its targeting of those who publicly oppose the Ukrainian narrative as “information terrorists,” who, as such, qualify for the same martial treatment as those who take up arms against Kiev.
