A joint Russian Federation/Ukraine operation to relieve the long-besieged city of Aleshki (Oleshky when transliterated from Ukrainian), the oldest and largest city in the Kherson Oblast on the Dniepr River front line between Russian and Ukrainian forces, was carried out on Oct. 30.

Food, medicines, hygiene products, and fuel have been convoyed to Aleshki, according to Yana Lantratova, the Russian ombudsman for the city, who held a press conference on the road with Dmytro Lubinets, the Ukrainian official with joint responsibility for the relief operation.

Lantratova recounted how some 50 doctors and nurses had been organized to work on a convoy of buses with 750 seats, together with 10 ambulances, so that everyone who wished to leave Aleshki could do so. Otherwise the supplies were available for the long-suffering residents who are staying in the city, who have been bombarded and attacked by drones from the higher, western bank of the Dnieper, where Ukrainian forces are dug in.
