In the Q&A session of the Oct. 1 Valdai Club meeting, Russian President Vladimir Putin summarized his concept of the new paradigm that must be created.
“As for how we envision a multipolar world, it cannot be bipolar, tripolar, or quadripolar. It must be diverse and truly multipolar. Our world is, of course, far more complex than consisting of two or even three blocs. It must take into account the interests of all participants in international relations.
“And, as we have said multiple times, there is a fundamental principle: the security of some cannot be achieved at the expense of the security of others. This is one of the cornerstones that we believe must underpin the future world order. We cannot yet tell what that order will look like, as I have said from this very podium, but we must strive to seek answers together. At the very least, we need to work together to find the foundations of this future world order, and do so without any preconditions.”
