Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov was in Tehran today, where he met with his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araghchi, after which he stated that Moscow will not abandon its economic agreements with Iran despite the difficult situation, reported TASS. “Despite the challenging situation, which has repeatedly been mentioned, Russia has no intention to abandon the implementation of economic and investment agreements with Iran,” he said at a joint press conference with Araghchi.

It was expected that Lavrov would brief the Iranians on the outcome of his discussions with officials from the Gulf Cooperation Council member states, with whom he met in Manama yesterday.

This evening, Lavrov was received by Iran’s president, Masoud Pezeshkian. They discussed bilateral relations and the latest regional and international developments, reported IRNA. “During the meeting, issues concerning the relationship between Tehran and Moscow, as well as ways to strengthen mutual cooperation, were discussed,” it added.
