Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark Milley again expressed realistic pessimism on Nov. 16 about the possibility that the Kiev regime could militarily expel Russian forces out of the territories regarded by the West as “occupied,” including Crimea, even during the latest wave of anti-Russian hysteria following the Nov. 15 missile incident in Poland. He noted during the Pentagon press briefing, that while the Russians have suffered some setbacks, “they still have significant Russian combat power inside Ukraine,” he said at a press briefing with Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin on Nov. 16.
“[T]he military task of militarily kicking the Russians physically out of Ukraine is a very difficult task,” Milley said. “And it’s not going to happen in the next couple of weeks unless the Russian army completely collapses, which is unlikely.”
