Sinn Describes How Germany Is Destroying Its Own Industry

In an interview yesterday with Swiss economic daily Neue Zürcher Zeitung, Hans-Werner Sinn, president emeritus of ifo Institute for Economic Research, based in Munich, denounced the EU decision to enforce the replacement of combustion engines by e-cars. “Electric cars are not CO2-free, as the EU claims. With the battery, every car carries a heavy CO2 backpack, and although the exhaust is not attached to the car, it is usually located a few kilometers away in a coal-fired power plant. The ban on combustion engines, along with other energy policy sins, has driven Germany into deindustrialization.
