The cause being reported by numerous media, for the death of the war-Senator Lindsay Graham of North Carolina, on Saturday night June 11, is “a brief, sudden, and unexpected illness” marked by cardiac arrest. Graham had been scheduled to appear on “Meet the Press” on Sunday morning; he had just returned from Ukraine where he had met with acting President Volodymyr Zelenski and toured a drone factory. He had also just made a call for China to “help restrain Russia” and get President Vladimir Putin to negotiate on Zelensky’s terms.
The warmongering Graham has also been the long-time chair of the Senate Budget Committee, which will have a role in the Senate’s consideration of Section 1217 of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) in coming weeks. That Section, which would authorize a completely non-transparent, across-the-board “partnership” of the military-industrial complexes of the United States and Israel, in place of aid which most Americans no longer support, is facing rising opposition. Independent Presidential candidate Diane Sare is leading a mobilization to stop it, along with the matching Section 219 of the NDAA in the House; former Congressman Dennis Kucinich has been providing updates and advice to the opposition.
Graham had also said, upon his return from Kiev, that his long-threatened “super-sanctions” on Russia were “ready to go,” meaning that President Donald Trump would now welcome that legislation after having asked him to hold it in abeyance. Trump responded to Senator Graham’s death by calling him “one of the greatest people and Senators I have ever known.”
The death leaves the Senate Budget Committee with nine Republican and nine Democratic Members. Democratic Governor Josh Stein of North Carolina will appoint Graham’s replacement until the November election.
