For the first time since President Trump resumed the war against Iran on July 7, U.S. forces on Wednesday launched a daytime wave of strikes, in addition to the nightly waves of strikes. “U.S. forces struck Iranian command centers, air defense sites, missile and drone capabilities, and coastal surveillance facilities to further degrade Iran’s ability to threaten innocent mariners crewing commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz,” U.S. Central Command said in a statement on X on Wednesday night. “CENTCOM used precision munitions to hit targets in multiple locations including Bandar Abbas.” CENTCOM also reported a strike on an “unladen” oil tanker it claimed was in violation of the U.S. blockade.
Iran, meanwhile, continues to pound US military bases in Jordan, Kuwait, and Bahrain. Dozens of videos are circulating on Iranian Telegram channels said to be showing impacts in these locations, but it’s hard to tell how much damage is being done. The damage might be either more or less than what the IRGC is claiming.
