Harley Schlanger, the Vice-Chairman of the Board of the Schiller Institute, was featured in an eighteen-minute interview on Pakistan’s PTV morning news program on Tuesday, on the subject of where the U.S.-Iran conflict is headed after the 60-day ceasefire expired. He emphasized the lack of options available to the Trump administration due to the flawed intelligence regarding Iran which came from Israel, which asserted the Iranian people would rise up and topple the government once the fighting began. Instead, he pointed to the resilience of the Iranian people, which thwarted the efforts of the U.S. and Israel to provoke a regime change. Trump’s popularity has fallen significantly, as the American public does not wish to see its tax dollars going to fight “endless wars” on behalf of the Zionist “Greater Israel” Project. He also spoke of the important diplomatic role played by Pakistan, and how the emergence of a Pakistan-Saudi-Turkey military alliance reflects a move toward a new security pact in the region, moving away from domination by Anglo-American corporate interests dictating strategic policy.
PTV is the English-language public broadcast service of Pakistan. The interview begins 20 minutes into the program.
Harley also was featured in a 15-minute interview on Iran’s Press TV on the British role in escalating fighting against Russia in Ukraine, and the warnings from Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov that the UK will face “consequences” for its role.
