Sept. 27—The Schiller Institute intervened in the UN General Assembly Sept. 22-28 General Debate in New York with a widely circulated statement by Helga Zepp-LaRouche, Schiller Institute founder, addressed to the assembled heads of state. The statement warns of the looming danger that today’s regional conflicts can quickly expand to a global nuclear war, and it poses the alternative of a global security policy in which each nation puts the interests of the One Humanity first.
Zepp-LaRouche states: “This time, the UN General Assembly takes place at a moment of great danger to the very existence of the human species. Two regional wars, the Ukraine war and the war against Iran, are both threatening to escalate into wider regional conflicts, and even global nuclear war. Several senior military experts are warning that we are in a situation more dangerous than during the Cuban missile crisis.”
She concludes: “It is the same question which was discussed during the time of the young American republic, in the Federalist Papers: Can mankind govern itself?” Addressing the heads of state, she continues: “If this question is to be answered affirmatively in the time of thermonuclear weapons, we must establish an entirely new paradigm: The idea of One Humanity first, must be put above all particular interests…. Let the ‘Spirit of Bandung,’ the ‘Spirit of Shanghai,’ and the spirit of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, that ‘All people shall be brethren,’ be your inspiration!”
Just two weeks earlier, the Schiller Institute NYC Chorus, with a full orchestra and a 130-voice chorus, had staged a magnificent performance of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony in Manhattan, honoring the 25th anniversary of those who sacrificed so much during the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. The concert, titled “Beethoven’s 9th—A Pathway Out of War,” included works by Brahms, Dvořák and Mozart, and was attended by a large number of ambassadors and UN mission delegations. Many of the diplomats were lifted up that night by the spirit of Beethoven!
Beethoven and Schiller on the Streets of New York
At booktables on the streets near the UN, and at events elsewhere in Manhattan for the UN General Assembly High-Level Week 2026, Schiller Institute volunteers circulated the Zepp-LaRouche statement, meeting people from around the world. The booktables were surrounded by large maps of the LaRouche-proposed World Land-Bridge, and big signs: “3 Billion New Jobs by 2050”; “LaRouche Was Right—U.S., Russia and China Can End War”; and “The LaRouche Solution—Water, Not War.”
As of this writing, 3,000 copies of the Zepp-LaRouche statement have been distributed. Many senior officials visiting from foreign ministries, and from international organizations, exchanged contact information for follow-up, and received with great interest the Schiller Institute’s latest (April 2026) book-length report, Extending the New Silk Road to West Asia and Africa.
The ambassador of each of the UN missions of 190 member nations received a personal letter from this author, which included the Zepp-LaRouche statement.
Schiller Institute volunteers also attended several of the UN High-Level Week events, intersecting leaders of all ranks and nations. For example, at West Harlem’s historic Riverside Church in Manhattan, at a meeting on Sept. 21 in celebration of the UN charter, “We Shall Not Be Moved,”which was addressed by several U.S. congressmen and senators, over 700 Zepp-LaRouche statements were distributed.
The political atmosphere was super-charged by a Sept. 21 statement, “Beware Mark Carney’s ‘Partners 4 Malthusianism,’ ” from Diane Sare, independent U.S. presidential candidate, whose campaign volunteers circulated it widely during the UN High-Level Week. The reference is to a new international group headed by Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney—infamous international banker—called “P4M” (Partners for Multilateralism, International Law, Peace and Prosperity), which is in fact a Delphic operation to counter China, Russia, and other leading voices of the Global Majority. Carney, a wolf in sheep’s clothing, calls for “middle powers” to activate. The P4M met in Manhattan Sept. 21, and issued a joint declaration on the eve of the opening of the UNGA General Debate.
Sare wrote in her statement, referring to a Sept. 20 London Financial Times article co-signed by Carney, “Whatever the other signers may have in mind, with this association of so-called ‘middle powers,’ Tony Blair-clone Mark Carney has demonstrated that his intention is the implementation of King Charles III’s genocidal ‘Global Britain’ green agenda. Charles has made no secret of his opinion that the world can only sustain one billion people, and financier climate activist Carney, who did a stint as UN Special Envoy on Climate Action and Finance after his term as governor of the Bank of England, has been the enforcer of financial lending policies to deprive developing nations of efficient forms of energy in the name of ‘curbing CO2 emissions.’ Lack of abundant reliable energy is an efficient way to increase death rates.”
And Then There Is Reality!
Reality lies with the Global Majority. Within the last month alone, the leaders of the Global South and East met first at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in Kyrgyzstan, then, at the European Economic Forum in the eastern Russian port city of Vladivostok, and two weeks ago in New Delhi, India for the BRICS meeting of 21 nations (11 BRICS members and 10 partner countries), representing nearly half the world’s population. A new trade, development, and financial system is in the making. In late October, China will host an international meeting on its widely debated Global Governance Initiative, including a call for reform of the entire global financial system to allow massive technology, education, and science transfer to the Global South.
BRICS host Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in New Delhi, alongside Chinese President Xi Jinping, that India and China “are partners, not rivals,” that the development of each benefits the other. Remarkably, this exact phrase was then used by Xi in Washington, in speaking with President Trump during Xi’s state visit; that China and the United States should be “partners, not rivals.”
In this author’s discussions with diplomats during the course of the High-Level Week, it became very clear that trickster Carney’s so-called “middle powers” proposed grouping of nations is supposed to include the largest nations of the Global South except China! Thus, his blatant intent is to break up the SCO and the BRICS, and attack China as an imperial threat. British Empire anyone? At the same time, bankster Carney is moving to set up a new “NATO bank,” he calls the Defense, Security and Resilience Bank, headquartered in Canada, to fund Europe’s proposed massive rearmament to wage war against Russia by 2027! This plot will not work, if we can embolden “The Spirit of Bandung” in the leaderships in the Global South.
The New Name For Peace is Development
A snapshot of the potency of Zepp-LaRouche’s call for a New International Security and Development Architecture was seen during a particular exchange at one of the events during the High-Level Week attended by Schiller Institute volunteers. The forum, on the topic of the industrialization of the Global South, was led by a European UN “expert” who droned on about the need for a green energy transition of resource use for nations of the South.
Countering this Western, green view, a leader from the government of Kenya simply responded by describing Africa’s recently completed gigantic oil refinery in Nigeria, the Dangote Group oil refinery complex. It ranks as the largest single-train oil refinery in the world, processing around 700,000 barrels per day of crude oil into gasoline, diesel, aviation fuel and other distillates, with a plan to expand the facility to process 1.4 million barrels of crude oil per day.
The Kenyan official added that a similar great refinery is about to be built in Kenya, so that Africa—which is hydrocarbon rich—can also become energy abundant for its growing population. When representatives of many major nations of the Global South are asked what they think of “low-carbon” green energy, they respond succinctly: “neocolonialism!” Let the majority of nations of the world listen to the wise words of Helga Zepp-LaRouche!
