The Lead

One Movement Across Many Lands

by Diane Sare (EIRNS) — Jun. 02, 2026

Several months ago, Schiller Institute founder Helga Zepp-LaRouche called for the formation of a Council of Reason. She believed it was necessary that senior statesmen and women from nations around the world assemble on a regular basis to develop solutions for our war-torn planet. Later, former Foreign Minister of South Africa Naledi Pandor said the Schiller Institute was a platform where the “adults in the room” could have a dialogue like no other. Over this past weekend in Berlin, a conference of the Schiller Institute brought together precisely such a Council of Reason, with speakers from Germany, China, India, the United States, South Africa, Ethiopia, France, and other nations. The presentations were on a very high level, and all of the participants were delighted by the quality of the dialogue. A one-hour video compilation of the highlights of this conference will soon be available.

In the United States, the campaigns of LaRouche associates Jose Vega for Congress and the presidential campaign of Diane Sare are experiencing an increased resonance due to the participation of many of their supporters in the International Peace Coalition zoom meetings held every Friday for the last three years. This particularly came into focus after Sare addressed the Rage Against the War Machine rally in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

The Schiller Institute is growing, and chapters are being formed by young people in several African nations. Long-time LaRouche associate and former political prisoner Dennis Small is leading a weekly Ibero-American Zoom meeting with participation from several nations, (probably from more nations than Marco Rubio counts as “America-friendly").

The establishment of the Schiller Institute as an international platform for dialogue among serious people is happening none too soon, as regional hot spots on the planet are threatening to explode into flames of civilization-threatening proportion.

Former Bundeswehr Chief of Staff General [ret.] Harald Kujat warned in an interview yesterday of the dynamic of escalatory conflict between Ukraine and Russia, in which the West is supplying Ukraine with ever more advanced weapons, enabling Ukraine to launch strikes deep inside Russia. This, coupled with the Ukrainian attack on a school in Lugansk, has now provoked a Russian escalatory response. The general expressed concern that this war could spread to other European nations.

Whatever harsh words U.S. President Donald Trump may have had for Israeli war criminal Bibi Netanyahu, supposedly thwarting an Israeli strike on Beirut, the Israelis continue to bomb southern Lebanon, killing dozens of civilians in a Gaza-style ethnic cleansing operation.

In the Caribbean, the United States has now murdered more than 200 unidentified individuals in small boats without any pretense of adherence to international law, which President Trump says he doesn’t need.

Yesterday, in Washington, Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke before the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations regarding the State Department budget. While several of the senators pressed him on the cost of the war against Iran, they also revealed foolish underlying assumptions. For example, Senator Shaheen of New Hampshire complained that Rubio and Witkoff and Kushner have only been meeting with Putin and haven’t spent enough time with Zelenskyy.

Colonel [ret.] Douglas Macgregor released a short statement yesterday calling on the American people to clean out Washington, D.C., by forming an independent movement, or even a new political party. He said that the Epstein files revealed not merely sexual crimes but an entire system of treachery and bribery. He said that it was this dynamic that allowed our government to plunge into foreign wars without the consent of the American people. That video has been viewed by over a half-million people across various platforms.

Lyndon LaRouche told us years ago, unless nearly all of the policies adopted since the assassination of President Kennedy were overturned, we would find ourselves in an existential crisis, poised on the brink of a thermonuclear war or civilizational dark age. We are now there and should turn to those solutions he outlined.

Helga Zepp-LaRouche concluded her dialogue with international associates today with the following words: “I think the interwovenness of our efforts of the IPC organizing, the campaigns in the United States, the effort to establish an international security and development architecture, the youth recruitment; I think all of these are really part of the same effort. And I think that the impact of what we represent is gaining massive respect by all kinds of people. So we should really transform that into a new level of organizing, because the world crisis is absolutely challenging. But I can only say that we are better prepared to deal with that than anybody else. So let’s recruit many more people to this perspective and have fun.”
