Due to an early start of the cold season and Aeolos’ decision not to blow on the North Sea, EU countries and the U.K. have consumed more gas in the last months, depleting gas inventories at the fastest rate for eight years, John Kemp reported.

“Combined inventories in underground storage across the European Union and the United Kingdom dropped by 83 terawatt-hours (TWh) between the official start of winter on Oct. 1 and Nov. 26. Stocks have fallen more than four times faster than the average over the last ten years, and by the most for any year since 2016, according to data from operators compiled by Gas Infrastructure Europe (GIE).”
